What does it truly mean to be trauma-informed, especially in the context of displacement, war, and racialized experiences? How do we recognize trauma in the lives of newcomers? And how can frontline workers respond in ways that build safety, trust, and healing, without needing to be fully trained mental health professionals?
Join SAISIA and Heartfire Learning for a practical, compassionate deep dive into traumainformed care for refugee and newcomer communities in Saskatchewan. Together, we’ll explore real-world strategies for building trust, supporting disclosure, and responding with cultural humility—whether you work in a large city or a small rural centre.
Based in Saskatoon, Heartfire is a community-rooted mental health and education

Their work centres relationship, equity, and healing across communities—especially in support of newcomers, Indigenous families, and others affected by traumas and griefs, large and small.
