Jean Goerzen
Executive Director
Jean joined SAISIA as Executive Director in January 2024.
Jean spent many years in Africa working with nonprofits in community development, first in Ghana and then Tanzania. From there she worked with programs in Sierra Leone, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Malawi, and Uganda. Prior to that, she worked with the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and UNICEF Canada.
Jean returned to Canada and Saskatoon with her two sons in 2015, and subsequently had the opportunity to work with AIDS Saskatoon (now Prairie Harm Reduction), the Saskatchewan Intercultural Association (SIA), and CHEP Good Food. In the meantime, her sons settled happily into life in Saskatoon and she is now a proud grandmother.
Jean grew up in Saskatoon and has a BA in International Studies from the University of Saskatchewan, an M.Sc. in Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development from the University of London (UK), and an M.Sc. in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (UK).
