Kira is eager to expand partnerships and advocate for the settlement sector in Saskatchewan in her new role as bilingual urban coordinator.
Born and raised in Saskatoon, Kira’s experiences working, studying, and traveling around the world inspired an appreciation for multiculturalism. After always being made to feel welcome, Kira strives to instill a sense of belonging for those new to the community. While completing a political studies degree at the University of Saskatchewan, a year of study at l’Université Robert Schumann in Strasbourg, France provided the opportunity to participate in a mock debate at the European Parliament.
In 2018 she moved into the settlement sector at Saskatoon Open Door Society, working as a volunteer and program coordinator. There she contributed to the Afghan Refugee Resettlement, built partnerships, and welcomed newcomers.
Kira is proud of Saskatchewan, and serves on the board of her community association. She loves to meet new people and is always willing to chat about plants!
