
Annette McGovern
Board Member
Annette has been the Executive Director at Battleford Immigration Resource Centre (BIRC) for the last ten years, and has sat on the Board of Multicultural Council of Saskatchewan (MCoS) and several other community serving groups.
Annette was the first Canadian born generation in her family which immigrated from Slovenia. Annette was raised on a 10acre ranch in Saskatchewan where she learned to cultivate a strong work ethic and teamwork lifestyle.
Upon finishing her Highschool, Annette went to the SIAST (now Saskatchewan Polytechnic) and U of S in Saskatoon where she attained her degree in Dentistry.
Annette returned to school twice after to attain Business Management and Rehabilitation Work.Annette worked in the Mental Health field in the capacity of rehabilitating patients from Sask Hospital and reintegrating them back into society and the workforce for almost 20 years.
Since 2015, Annette has held the position of Executive Director for a settlement agency in Saskatchewan, helping it build from 5 to 13 staff.
Annette has several great connections within Sask. with other settlement centres as well as many First Nations people and community organizations.
Annette is always looking for ways to enhance and learn from new opportunities. She has put her name forward as a possible member of the SAISIA Board to bring new ideas and perspectives.
